Confirmation

It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,

so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give you.

John 15:16

When we are baptized, we are welcomed into the life of the Catholic community and we enter into a special relationship with God and the community of believers (the Church). Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace and unites us more firmly to Christ, increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us and gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action.

All youth in grade 7 and above, homeschooled, or attending a Catholic, public, or private school, are welcome to register with Blessed Trinity Parish for our next  sacrament of confirmation program which will take place in early 2026.  Registration for our next preparation program will open in September 2025.  You will be required to submit a copy of the candidate's Baptismal Certificate.  If you do not have a copy, please contact the parish where your child was baptized.  This parish will be able to give you a copy of the certificate.

Registration for the 2024-2025 Confirmation Sacramental Preparation Program is now closed.

Why be Confirmed?

Through the sacrament of Confirmation, Jesus gives us:

  • an increase in the divine life
  • a new and deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit
  • an increase of strength to profess, defend, and spread the faith.

Our new relationship with the Holy Spirit after Confirmation is similar to that of the apostles after Pentecost where they were enlightened to be better able to understand the mysteries of God and strengthened to be able to bear witness to Jesus.

Sponsor Information

As with the sacrament of Baptism, the candidate is to have a sponsor.  The sponsor for Confirmation does not need to be the same sponsor/godparent for Baptism.  The sponsor:

  • must be at least 16 years of age
  • must be a practicing Catholic who has been confirmed
  • must be in good standing with the Catholic Church
  • must live a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken
  • cannot be the father or mother of the one to be confirmed

Program Schedule for those Registered

Grade 7 and 8 students from Blessed Trinity School and St. Agnes registered in the program will be taught in class during class time, weekly, starting the week of January 6th through the week of March 3rd

All other youth will attend our in-parish program on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm on the following dates:

Attendance

Alot of material is covered during each class.  If the candidate is absent for more than one session during the program and/or the candidate is unable to attend the retreat, we will meet with you to discuss if perhaps the sacrament of Confirmation should be received at a later date.
